The Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary in the St. Petersburg area, FL is currently seeking hard-working, dedicated, and passionate individuals to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment.

Full-time positions now available include:

Avian Care Specialist: This position involves the care of sick and injured birds in a hospital setting on rotating day and evening shifts. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: admission, triage, cleaning cages, daily medical care and maintenance of avian patients.

Outdoor Aviculturist: Duties encompass aviary cleaning/maintenance, food preparation, feeding, general/ground maintenance, behavioral observations, volunteer relations and public tours.

Successful candidates for either position will be expected to perform multiple tasks, while adhering to a schedule. Candidates for the positions must meet the following minimum requirements:

Animal handling and care-giving experience
Excellent behavioral observation skills
Competent volunteer and public interactions
Willingness to work in hot and humid conditions
Physically able to stand, kneel, bend and climb ladders
for extended periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work weekends and some holidays
Interest in and respect for native and migratory bird species

Salary is comparable to that of a non-profit organization. Full benefits include health, dental, and life insurance after six months of employment. A working interview of one day is required before hire. Please send cover letter, resume, and references to:
